Welcome to Mangialicious. We love food, all things food. Well maybe to clear that up a little, we love good, yummy food. Our favorite food is Italian, but anything with gooey melted cheese is a close second. Desserts are a must. We have dessert almost every night. I think chocolate is our biggest weakness but lemon is right up there. We are a little picky about what we eat and we would like to think we know great food. As most of us "eat" with our eyes first, making our dishes look good is very important, even when it's just the two of us. Although I think I eat with my nose first. Almost every recipe we post has been developed by us, allowing for the occasional adaption of some of our favorite chefs.
We are self-taught cooks and bakers, perhaps a tiny bit influenced by spending hours watching Food Network every Saturday morning! Mangialicious is a place for us to share the food we love with you. We try to purchase fresh quality products whenever they are available. You don’t need a lot of ingredients, you just need GOOD ingredients. Food and cooking has been at the center of our families. Between our moms and grandmothers we were always in the kitchen helping out. Rolling meatballs, filling ravioli, breading pork chops, frosting cookies, there was always something that brought us into the kitchen. Our grandchildren, Sophia, Zachary and Landon now help when they are over, as does our teenage nephew Jacob. Zac and Landon are in Tampa but when we go to Florida or when they come up here they are always with us in the kitchen. Sophia, who lives close by, has become a terrific sous chef. She is only 7 but she can slice a mean mushroom! Although I think she likes it better when she gets to bake with "Oma" Tonia. She really loves her sweets.
When we are not cooking, we enjoy camping, watching good movies, football and hockey, family time and of course posting about our culinary adventures whether cooking at home or enjoying dinner out. We have two sons, Alan and Brian, and as mentioned above, three grandchildren. Sunday dinners are always the best day of the week. AJ and his family come over; we play games, talk, cook and enjoy dinner. We also like working on our house...our never ending home improvement projects! We just remodeled the “office” and are beginning work on the spare bedroom. Last year we got a new fence around the backyard and this year we are getting a cement driveway put in. There is always fun to be had. We will post pictures of our projects and other random events we attend to share not only our food with you but a little bit of us.
Our desire here is to give you recipes that you and your family will not only love but will want to make again. Thanks for stopping by. We would love to hear from you if you have any comments or questions!
